GOLIATH-ground breaking project

I love furniture and I am not ashamed to say it. This summer will be exciting since in a year I was able to acquired a massive scoop of knowledge and skills that have yet to be applied in a real world setting-then again, who said this built is a joke?

GOLIATH will be a massive seven-foot bookshelf and mass storage unit consisting of a mixture of materials to execute the construction of such a massive piece. So far the idea has progressed into this mixture of materials in order to save wood and lumber use-thus, making the massive piece light, which roughly measures around 7'x3'x3'. ( at left,a model of the project to come).

My method of construction has evolved into a visual effect of light weight holding heavy weight-materials which are being considered are wood, MDF, stainless steel hardware, wood siding, plastic and perhaps the best feature; polycarbonate.

Expected date of completion-August 2009

THE END IS AMONG US-OR ME....

I am graduating this coming May-for my last design project, which I stepped up to the plate to fly solo; has been nothing but an experience of knowing what I am made up-and what I should refine withing myself.
I have done plenty for myself, through this whole tedious completion of this design project I was able to manage time for a design portfolio, in hopes that it will be my entry ticket into the field.

I got nothing-and stepping into the real world as a graduate its quite a naked feeling. Well I suppose as I have my youth, which provides me with energy, endless possibilities of ideas that sometimes don't work and when they do its great. Along with my relentlessness, I suppose I got something going for me.

Here is a small preview of my project for enjoyment.

Welcome

Welcome to my blog! You may have noticed that I have another blog floating around under the address http//blakdesdesign.blogspot.com- I created this account, but I somehow cannot retrieve my login information; therefore, you will not see much happening there-at all.

I am anticipating using this as a networking base for interior design, ideas, and exchange of sources among other designers. I am currently studying interior design at San Diego State University, and I am scheduled to graduate this coming may with a BA in art with emphasis in design. Do sign up, and follow along, I am sure to interest you in a thing or two.
